Say it with Roses by Debra Ullrick

on April 23, 2016
Living a stone’s throw from NYC I enjoyed the realistic unfolding of a love story taking place in the largest, busiest city in the world. You could say that Central Park was another character in this charming novella. Rebecca and Neil both have heart-aches and baggage that need to be unpacked before they can find happiness with one another and peace in their relationship with God. The author convincingly illustrates how stepping forward in faith brings restoration after painful events occur. I enjoyed the flower theme and how it tied into theology that was neither overblown or pablum. I will definitely look to read other novellas in this flower series.
I received a gift copy of this book in return for an honest review.

A girl with a beautiful mind…

By Jenna22 on September 18, 2016

Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase

EJ McCay has a deft hand with dialogue and mastery over the stream of consciousness experienced by protagonist Lilly James in Broken Like Glass. Lilly is one of the walking wounded, who has experienced far too many of life’s harshest and heartbreaking body-blows. On the outside, all appears fine, until she returns home for the weekend after many many years away, and stabs her adoptive father in the Safeway. As she begins to deeply converse inwardly with Papa, her nickname for God, who has been her only rock in an unsteady world… and in an “okay” life (not a happy life) it brings Lilly on a journey of self discovery. Along with God’s use of Lilly’s childhood crush Uriah Pendleton and other former friends she embraces and rejects transformation of those jagged, broken pieces inside her shattered soul. Highly recommend.

Stranded by a snowstorm, Carrie Sanders is left holding a bag an old woman she’d been talking to left behind in the airport coffee shop. Mystified by the woman’s disappearance, she sits on the bench staring at the snow globe that was in the bag.
Inside the glittery snowy world it’s Christmas during the 1940s. Fighting sleep, the next thing she knows she’s in the arms of the soldier she last saw skating on the pond in the snow globe. This review is from: Snow Globe Reunion (Snow Globe Christmas Collection) (Kindle Edition)

I adore well-written sweet romance novellas that bring you into a kinder, gentler world – when you’re short on time but want to read something quick and heartwarming – well, Snow Globe Reunion delivers with an extra special twist…it brings you from the current to small town 1940’s at the holidays and is compatible with my preference for love stories that include a faith thread. My heart swelled with love as Ms. Lorenzen’s characters interacted with long-passed loved ones (think “Peggy Sue Got Married” but twenty years earlier) and the author skillfully brings into the page how that era’s Christmas celebrations look and feel …spot-on in our imagination, and getting heroine back in time is done quite well. I won’t divulge if she returns to the current world or not- that’s one of the mysteries you need to solve by reading but there are sure compelling reasons for her to stay put….and return to 2916 so …will Carrie and Jimmy have a snow globe reunion? Enjoy finding out, as I did.
