This review is from: Snow Globe Reunion (Snow Globe Christmas Collection) (Kindle Edition)

I adore well-written sweet romance novellas that bring you into a kinder, gentler world – when you’re short on time but want to read something quick and heartwarming – well, Snow Globe Reunion delivers with an extra special twist…it brings you from the current to small town 1940’s at the holidays and is compatible with my preference for love stories that include a faith thread. My heart swelled with love as Ms. Lorenzen’s characters interacted with long-passed loved ones (think “Peggy Sue Got Married” but twenty years earlier) and the author skillfully brings into the page how that era’s Christmas celebrations look and feel …spot-on in our imagination, and getting heroine back in time is done quite well. I won’t divulge if she returns to the current world or not- that’s one of the mysteries you need to solve by reading but there are sure compelling reasons for her to stay put….and return to 2916 so …will Carrie and Jimmy have a snow globe reunion? Enjoy finding out, as I did.

Return to an old fashioned Christmas

By Jenna22 on September 7, 2016

Format: Paperback Verified Purchase

I read lots of Christmas stories as it is my favorite holiday. I especially love the movie It’s A Wonderful Life, because of its hometown feel and sentiments of friendship, self sacrifice and love and that’s exactly how I imagined “Love in Little Snow” by Lovely Christian Romance Press, would be like when I ordered a paperback copy – and I wasn’t disappointed.51jx2oh-3ul-_sy344_bo1204203200_

Author Katrina Hart has written a sweet romantic story set in a fictitious town with lots of old fashioned customs and holiday delights but more than that she introduces us to Bailey Cartwrite who is suffering grief and loss at Christmas time.

Like George Bailey in my favorite film, Bailey Cartwrite is disoriented when an angel like character (won’t say who due to spoilers) drops him in an unfamiliar snow globe world.
In that world he has another chance for happiness.
As sweet tender moments unfold between Bailey and Holly, a heroine with sorrows of her own – you can sense the healing power of love and prayer taking place.

The festivities of Christmas are on full display as well as seeing the gradual awareness that Bailey must choose his own path. What will he decide?

As the minister says in the book,
“God works his own magic, it’s up to us to choose to embrace it.”

Nicely written, I enjoyed the faith-based content and how emotions were realistic.

This one is for my keeper shelf.

The Christmas Witness (Love Inspired Suspense) by Susan Sleeman

WITNESS

The Christmas Witness (Love Inspired Suspense) (Mass Market Paperback)

Author: Susan Sleeman
Heart-tugging and thrilling
Five star review on Amazon by Jenna22

Okay – true confession time. I hated the final scene in The Christmas Witness. Why is that, do you ask? Because it meant the book was over!! Author Susan Sleeman has done an excellent job keeping the suspense going at a breakneck speed, yet also interweaving heartwarming spots that show the growing love between the hero Reid and heroine Megan, and heart-tugging scenes involving the secondary characters (Megan’s critically ill young daughter, Ella, and Reid’s pre-teen daughter Jessie). The tenderness and high-tension action equally shared the stage with a third, important element – the spiritual doubts and struggles the hero and heroine face (and overcome) as the book unfolds.

This was a rich, believable story that I wished went on and on for another several hundred pages, it was so good. I was on a roller coaster ride from the opening page – my heart was in my throat in that gas station scene when Megan sees the ex-con whom she’d put in prison for twelve years somehow out from behind bars… Her handing over her credit card through a crack in the window, and shrinking back out of sight was so he couldn’t see her. Wow!

Then you have parts like that beautiful, poignant snow ball fight (ah, that sweet kiss!) Add in a few totally unexpected plot turns I didn’t see coming — well let’s just say Susan Sleeman delivered on all three elements: faith, romance and thrilling suspense.

This book also had a personal connection for me, the verse on the flyleaf was Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I have gotten much comfort from this verse through the years and The Christmas Witness perfectly illustrates the verses’ message to trust in God, no matter how dire the circumstances seem.

War Room Bible Study – Bible Study Book (Paperback)

One-star review on Amazon by Jenna22
More like a booklet than a book
Waited several weeks for receipt even though I am Amazon Prime member. Amazon’s Description of Bible study book (looks like a print-on-demand self publishing effort) clearly indicated video clips (on DVD) were included and yet nothing came with item. Would classify this as a handout or booklet, not a book. Five very brief lessons; that’s it. Have requested exchange in hopes promised DVD is included.

Crazy Little Thing Called Matchmaking (Love and Laugh in Seashore Cove)

Crazy Little Thing Called Matchmaking (Love and Laugh in Seashore Cove) (Paperback)
Author: Maggie Van Well
5-star Review by Jenna22 on Amazon
Well Written and A Keeper
Loved the way the book started off running headlong into romance with humorous dialogue and characters that melt your heart. Going on my keeper shelf.
From publisher:
Is it possible to find two loves in one lifetime? Dubbed “The Child Whisperer” by his peers, twenty-nine-year-old Jake Harris is a lollipop-sucking, video game-playing pediatrician, who moves to Seashore Cove, Long Island to start a family. What he finds is an immediate attraction to his new nurse, Kate, and a list of reasons why he has to keep his distance. Kate Henderson is a grieving widow with two teenage boys, struggling to keep her head above water. She knows exactly why she must fight her growing desire for the new doctor, and nothing is going to change that. But Kate’s sons think Dr. Jake is the perfect match for their mother. When they put their heads together, the duo comes up with crazy little schemes in the hopes of igniting a spark. The teenagers succeed in throwing them together but is it enough to make their mom and the doctor tear up their lists and take a chance on love?

Killer Reads: A Collection of the Best in Inspirational Suspense

Killer Reads: A Collection of the Best in Inspirational Suspense (Kindle Edition)
Authors Ehrlich, Tenery, DeGarmo, Duncan and Chillemi
Clean read but big on suspense
5-star Review by Jenna22 on Amazon
I love suspense novels without a lot of gore or foul language, so this “clean read” collection is perfect. My two favorites were Works of Darkness (author Virginia Tenery) and Harmful Intent (author Nike Chillemi). Just because the collection is inspirational doesn’t mean the stories lack action, hard to figure out killers or plenty of suspense. Glad to see Tenery and Chillemi have additional books featuring Matt Foley/Sara Bradford and Ronnie Ingles/Dawson Hughes, respectively. Now where’s my wish list button here on Amazon?.

Silent Night Pursuit by Katy Lee

Silent Night Pursuit (Roads to Danger)

Questions…And Secrets
5-star Review by Jenna22 on Amazon

I won’t reveal my age by stating how long I’ve been reading Harlequin Romance, but let’s just say the first ones had vintage 2-color covers, titles such as “Nurse Saxon’s Patient” and featured exotic settings. I mention this because I know an exceptional addition to Harlequin’s inventory when I read it. After devouring book after book and (mostly) enjoying them all – I can count on one hand the number of reviews I’ve ever posted – or probably on half a hand. And I couldn’t wait to review this one… It’s that good.

The new breed of Harlequin / Harlequin Love Inspired books aren’t your granny’s Harlequins. Silent Night Pursuit by Katy Lee is a stellar example of the “rebooted” inspirational romantic suspense line waiting to be read (err…devoured). Fast-paced, clock-ticking, with plenty of James-Bond-like shenanigans, Silent Night Pursuit has you rooting for Lacey, Wade and a red superman-cape-wearing canine named Promise from their first snowy encounter. It’s a book filled with realistic details of service dogs, handlers, PSTD, women in car racing, covert ops… and, guaranteed by this book’s inclusion in Harlequin’s Love Inspired Suspense line, offers danger, memorable goons and good guys, True Love, unexpected twists, and, in Silent Night Pursuit specifically, “What a Jesus kind of love looks like.” Did I mention unexpected twists? Yep!

Now don’t let the Jesus part sway you, to pass this book by. I compare Love Inspired books to a friend you have, who happens to believe (or not believe) the same way you do. You’re still friends, still go on adventures with them, still share your innermost secrets… Their faith is part of who they are, And you accept that. It’s the same with LIS – the books work because like Ms. Lee’s other novels (Sunken Treasure, Grave Danger, Permanent Vacancy, etc.) they’re extremely well written, suspenseful, intriguing – with deep characters who draw you in, and plenty of page-turning action. And unexpected twists (oops, said it again).

Five stars from me. You can see from my photo here I couldn’t even put Silent Night Pursuit down while doing laundry!

Say it With Roses – by Debra Ullrick

Say It With Roses: Christian Contemporary Romance (American State Flower) (Kindle Edition)
Author: Debra  Ullrick
Enjoyed Manhattan setting and faith-based romance
A four-star review on Amazon by Jenna22
Living a stone’s throw from NYC I enjoyed the realistic unfolding of a love story taking place in the largest, busiest city in the world. You could say that Central Park was another character in this charming novella. Rebecca and Neil both have heart-aches and baggage that need to be unpacked before they can find happiness with one another and peace in their relationship with God. The author convincingly illustrates how stepping forward in faith brings restoration after painful events occur. I enjoyed the flower theme and how it tied into theology that was neither overblown or pablum.
I will deSAYITWITHROSESfinitely look to read other novellas in this flower series.
I received a gift copy of this book in return for an honest review.
